Invisalign uses clear or invisible, removable teeth aligners (braces) to gradually straighten crooked or misaligned teeth. The Invisalign system employs a 3-D computer imaging technology to map out the complete treatment plan to correct the problem. After the plan is devised, a series of custom-made, invisible aligners are produced. Each aligner is worn for about two weeks and then replaced by another until the desired position of the teeth is achieved.
The Invisalign clear braces are worn 22 hours a day and removed only when the patient has to eat or brush his teeth. A dentist or orthodontist performs regular checkups to track the progress. Full Invisalign treatment usually takes six months to a year and a half.
