Teeth discolouration, gaps or spaces between the teeth, and uneven or crooked teeth are dental-related cosmetic problems.
These may either be a result of genetics, aging, and diet or smoking (in the case of teeth discolouration). Various procedures employed to treat dental cosmetic problems have given rise to a special branch called cosmetic dentistry.
Cosmetic dentists can perform the following procedures:
- Invisalign. Straightens misaligned or crooked teeth or close the gaps between them. Instead of using wire braces, this procedure uses transparent teeth aligners (also called Invisalign braces).
- Veneers and Crowns. Dental crowns typically encase an entire tooth whereas porcelain veneers only cover over the front side of a tooth. Both procedures are used in cosmetic restoration of your teeth
- Teeth Whitening. Removes discolouration of the teeth to improve their appearance.
- Dental Implants. Replaces lost tooth/teeth. The dentist first carefully evaluates the condition of the patients gums and teeth before placing the implants.
